Historic Erotica graces us with yet another rare treasure, with Betty Page Uncovered. Before plastic surgery and breast implants, there were thigh-high stockings and high heel shoes and Betty Page.

Betty Page is quite possibly the most famous pin-up/kink model of all time, making this title truly a unique find. This Tennessee girl turned risqué is mesmerizing-  this video is a set of archival clips of Betty Page in her classic get-up: thigh-high stockings, high-heels, bra and panties. She smiles and gyrates adorably for the camera, while we get a little narration at the beginning, to give the clips some context. Mostly she just dances and takes her stockings on and off. Like some of Historic Erotica’s other titles, Betty Page Uncovered may not work as prime wank-off material (since it’s only about 30 minutes long), but works great as an opener to your longer porn viewing.

Since these are silent film clips, they are all complemented by some jazzy, vintage music that plays while she does her thing. On the whole, it was appropriate (and catchy), but a tad distracting at times. Aside from the narration at the beginning, you could crank down the volume on this title and replace it with the music of your choice, without losing anything.

Momentary buzz kill: where the hell is naked Betty? There are a few shots on the cover that show Betty topless, and they’re quite nice, but they’re not in the film! Don’t get me wrong, the whole appeal of Betty Page has nothing to do with nudity, but the cover WAS a tad misleading… I mean, and here I was hoping to see Betty Page ‘uncovered’. Although, the back of the box quips that it has “less nudity than most modern bath soap commercials”.

However, I was still delighted with what I got. There is something to be said for simple eroticism. Excuse me while I go out and buy a pin-up style calendar.

The Very Best of Desiree Cousteau showcases one of my favorite porn stars of the “Golden Age.” She may act ditzy, but once she strips off her clothes and reveals that killer body, isn’t that all that really matters? Desiree’s long legs and perfect tits suit her profession very well. This compilation of Desiree Cousteau scenes gets off to a slow start, but it does a nice job of representing the wide variety of scenes from her memorable porn career. Still, it seems more of a variety pack than a collection of the best scenes, which it claims to be.

After that, the fun begins. Desiree is at her best in Pizza Girls, where she gets a job by letting John Holmes have a go at her. The scene from Deep Rub is boring, but then we get to another great scene from Pizza Girls. This time, Desiree gives a hot blowjob that ends with a load on her awesome boobs. Pizza Girls continues to steal the show by providing the next scene, where the shapely Desiree looks especially great riding on top.

Another Deep Rub scene is next in line, and it is my favorite scene of the compilation. Desiree gets nailed every which way, including upside down! She looks best taking a cock while she is all stretched out on the hood of a car. Two Summer Heat scenes follow that, with the first one showing luscious Desiree sucking cock on a boat before taking the action to a waterfall and the surrounding rocks. Following that, she plays an Asian masseuse who takes on two guys in another Deep Rub scene. That kind of scene isn’t my thing as you get to view mostly sausage and hairy ass covering up a hot woman. Finally, the compilation ends with two more Summer Heat scenes. Desiree looks pretty hot having forced sex in the first scene, but it cuts short for some reason. Then she romps outside, ending the fun with a great titfuck and cumshot.

Overall, the compilation is a mixed bag. Although there are some good scenes, there are also some pretty lame ones. That doesn’t equal a “Very Best of” in my opinion. Plus, the hottest scene I have ever scene of her (from Hot Rackets) is not included.

Vintage porn has established a benchmark on how adult entertainment should be, with lots of penetration all over the place. However, it was a matter of time before someone else would expand the conventions of such entertainment. One of these figures is Adam Glasser – popularly known as Seymour Butts – as he revolutionized porn by producing a string of first-person, reality-based films that came to be known as “gonzo” porn.

His first foray in vintage porn came when he lent a gym he owned to an adult film producer. After seeing porn from behind the scenes for the first time, he quit his job as a personal trainer and immersed himself in the world of adult entertainment. Glasser had to pay his dues as a newbie in the business by appearing as a supporting actor on several vintage porn flicks in the ’80s, most notably in a video from Buttman’s Ultimate Adventure.

After his vintage porn pursuits, Glasser adopted the pseudonym Seymour Butts and began etching a career as an adult filmmaker. Whereas vintage porn primarily focused on penises and pussies, Seymour made films about the ass, as The Adventures of Seymour Butts would suggest. His light and off-the-cuff films were made with only a camera on his hand, and disregard to location set-up and actual dialogue, characteristics that typify gonzo porn.

Glasser took his obsession with the ass even further with Tushy Girls, an adult film series featuring anally-starved actress in high-quality porn. He received infamy with the release of Tampa Tush Fest where a guy dishing off vaginal fisting action on two women happened to be taboo in the American market. However, the court case only paved the way for more adult videos featuring fisting to be released in the States.

The most recent project of Glasser came in“Family Businesses,” a television series that showed one of the biggest personalities in the American adult entertainment in his normal ruses. As the show gained popularity, Glasser deserves even more recognitive, at the very least, considering the impressive body of work he has contributed in the world of vintage porn.

It was during the 80’s that porn flicks prospered and flourished. The 80’s was actually my favorite decade for vintage porn. In my opinion it was during this period that most of the best adult classic flicks came out. One of my favorites, and probably most memorable is Taboo. The film talks about mother and son incest. Playing the role of the mother is Kay Parker, in this movie her husband passes away and she finds herself seducing her son played by Mike Ranger. Despite the controversy that followed, the vintage porn went on to be one of the best selling adult movies ever.

So popular was this movie that it spawned countless sequels, all dealing with the same subject of incest. In my opinion, what made this movie great was not only the interesting story line, but the stars as well. Porn stars back in those days still had a certain appeal that could draw viewers right in. Todays porn stars just doesn’t have the spark their predecessors had, all they do is moan and scream and it tends to get a little boring in the long run. Taboo features stars that not only sizzles in front of the camera, but stars who know how to act, making the entire movie more interesting and captivating.

Taboo is what I would call a classic porn film. Even now, I haven’t found or watched an adult film that could compare to the intensity that only a film like Taboo can deliver. Porn flicks today doesn’t even contain any trace of a story line. It’s all we meet up, go to my place, you give me a good oral, and I bang you senseless. In some sense, Taboo offered a story line good enough for you to follow, and interesting enough to keep you glued, the steamy sex scenes are a different story altogether. So, if you are talking about vintage porn or classic porn, your selection will not be complete without Taboo.
